OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Scouting will get your kids off electronics and outside. Camping and hiking are just a few things that Cub Scouts do. But Scouts are also outside to earn badges and other awards for fishing, geocaching, sports and more.
Lion Cub Scouts go on an outdoor hike.
Tiger Cub Scouts go outside to observe the night sky.
Wolf Cub Scouts play catch to improve their throwing and catching ability.
Bear Cub Scouts plant a vegetable or herb garden.
Webelos Scouts create and go through a fitness course that includes running, jumping, and avoiding obstacles.
2. DEVELOP NEW INTERESTS AND SKILLS
Scouting give kids the opportunity to try new things. Cub Scouts develop ability and dexterity, and they learn to use tools and to follow directions. Recognition and awards encourage them to learn about a variety of subjects, such as conservation, safety, physical fitness, community awareness, and academic subjects. These interests might become a hobby or even a career later in life.
They can learn magic tricks.
Investigate how air affects different objects.
They can learn to build a robot.
They can design their own game or act in a skit.
3. LEARN LIFE LESSONS
As adults, we know how to do many things that we may not teach our kids. While some kids may not have had the lesson in reading a map or tying a square knot girls and boys can learn map reading and knot tying in Cub Scouts.
They can learn how to use tools.
Design and build wood projects.
Learn first aid skills for cuts, blisters, insect bites and more.
Learn what to do in an emergency.
Understand the value of good nutrition and exercise.
4. HOW TO SET AND ACHIEVE GOALS
Cub Scouts recognizes a Scouts efforts and achievements. Scouting provides fun for the kids and also teaches them to do their best and strengthens their understanding on how to set goals for their advancement requirements as well as other Scouting activities.
They design and build Pinewood derby cars to race.
Work together to set up Camp sites and cook meals for groups.
Take care of animals.
Earn badges to advance to the next rank.
5. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Cub Scouts is dedicated to bringing out the best in people. Cub Scouts doesn't emphasize winning as an end result, but rather the far more demanding task of doing one's best. The goal of Cub Scouts is for kids to become useful and stable individuals who are aware of their own potential. Helping a child to learn the value of their own worth is the greatest gift we can give them.
Lions learn do things for themselves and be a good citizen.
Tigers learn polite and respectful language and create a den code of conduct.
Wolves participate in a community service project.
Bears complete a service project that helps clean up their community.
Webelos complete requirements that develop empathy for people with disabilities.
